How Does It Work?

The test is simple, non-invasive, and requires no eye drops:

• Headset Placement: The patient wears the AdaptDx Pro headset, which fully blocks external light.

• Bleach Phase: A short, controlled flash of light is used to temporarily desensitize the rods in your retina (the cells responsible for seeing in low light).

• Dark Adaptation Phase: Patients are asked to press a button when they begin seeing dim flashes of light as their retina recovers sensitivity.

• Rod Intercept™ Score: The system calculates how long it takes for the rods to adapt, known as the “Rod Intercept.” A score longer than 6.5 minutes may indicate early signs of AMD.

Because this functional change occurs before visible retinal damage, the AdaptDx Pro provides a critical window for lifestyle changes or treatment plans that can slow or even halt progression.
